About the Item
Pair of 1940's wall sconces with canister glass shades. 17" tall, 8.75" deep and 8" wide. Canister shades are 6" wide and 6.5" tall. Original backing plates lost during removal from clients home some time ago and so these walnut backing plates have been fashioned in the style of Gio Ponti's knife edge shapes used in his furniture designs. The plates have been produced to allow direct wall connection or, through the use of standard wall junction boxes - see the nuts to either side of the stems. Exceptionally elegant with oval brass stems floating upon two brass attachments. Fully rewired. Ideal for dining or living areas and for art display between. The lights cast a wide berth of soft illumination with the shades being a type of blown glass that diffuses the light in an opaline nature. In excellent condition. Maker unknown but the components are recognizable as being Italian or Finnish in origin.
