About the Item

French Art Deco Pair of Corner Wall Sconces by Jean Gauthier, Ezanville, Paris, 1920s A stunning pair of French Art Deco corner wall sconces designed by Jean Gauthier, crafted in Ezanville, Paris during the 1920s. These elegant wall lights are specially designed to fit perfectly into re-entrant 90° room corners, making them a unique and functional addition to any interior. Featuring frosted molded glass shades beautifully set in silver-plated bronze fixtures, these sconces showcase exceptional craftsmanship. Each sconce measures approximately 8.7" (22 cm) wide, 12.2" (31 cm) high, and 6.3" (16 cm) deep. The shades are marked “Ezan France” (see photos), authenticating their origin and maker. The glass shades have minor edge nicks, typical from metal contact but cleverly hidden by the fixtures, maintaining an overall very good condition. Each sconce will be delivered professionally wired to suit your country’s electrical standards (US, UK, EU, China, Australia, etc.). About Jean Gauthier: Jean Gauthier began his workshop at 12-14 rue Jean Robert in Paris before expanding to factories in Ezanville. Shortly after World War I, Gauthier produced cameo glass shades, some signed with his name. The Ezanville factory specialized in Art Deco molded-pressed glassware, often unsigned but sometimes marked “EJG” (Établissements Jean Gauthier) or “J. Robert,” a pseudonym referencing the street of his first workshop. In the 1930s, Gauthier launched a line of opalescent semi-crystal glass shades, many marked “Ezan France,” reflecting the location of his second factory. This pair of wall sconces perfectly captures the innovative spirit and refined aesthetics of French Art Deco lighting design.
