About the Item

French Art Deco set of 2 double wall sconces by Jean Gauthier, (Paris), France, 1920s. Thick opalescent (cobalt blue) molded glass shade. Solid bronze fixtures. Measures: Each: Height 10.8" (27.5cm), width 18.5" (47cm), depth 8.7" (22cm). Molded signature "E zan France 54-60" (see photo). Delivered wired with B22 sockets for your country (EU, US, UK, China, etc). LED can be used. Jean Gauthier had his first workshop at 12-14 rue Jean Robert in Paris and later expended with factories in the town of E zanville. In the early days just after the First World War Gauthier made cameo shades that were sometimes signed Gauthier. The plants in E zanville were opened for the production of Art Deco glassware in moulded-pressed glass. Many Art Deco models are unsigned. Some are signed EJG for Etablissements Jean Gauthier. Others are signed J.Robert pseudonym for J.Gauthier based on the street name of the first workshop. In the 1930s Gauthier started a line of shades done in opalescent semi-crystal, mainly cups. Some models are unsigned. Others are signed E zan France, signature for Gauthier based on the city of the second plant.
