Late 18th C. Pair of French Brass Repoussé Wall Sconces, 35.25" Tall

A French pair of 19th century sconces mounted on shapely carved and painted wood back-plates. This antique pair of sconces from France have been fashioned from 19th century brass/metal fixtures consisting of elaborately designed metal plaques, metal backplates, and a three-arm light fixture in leaf motif with metal flower petal wrapped bobèches, which have been mounted on 20th century wooden plaques. The carved wood plaque are shapely with scalloped top sides and rounded bottoms, and have a muted green finish which looks quite nice with the patina of the brass and metal. Note that this pair of light fixtures have older wiring. These French sconces will look lovely flanking at entrance within a foyer, or together gracing your bedroom or living room wall...

This antique pair of candle sconces from Italy have been carved with flower scalloped backplate at wall, which projects outward into a singular, and robust arm carved in an elegant scrolling acanthus leaf design, and terminating into a raised platform with pricket set at center, ready to hold the candle.
