French Art Deco Silvered Bronze Wall Sconces by Petitot with Opalescent Glass Shades by Jean Gauthier, Paris, 1920s. A stunning pair of French Art Deco wall sconces designed by renowned lighting manufacturer Petitot (Paris, France) circa 1920. These exceptional fixtures are crafted in solid bronze with a silver-plated finish, featuring their original thick frosted opalescent crystal glass shades by Jean Gauthier, a master glassmaker of the Art Deco period.

About the Makers:
Founded in 1878 by Antonin Petitot and later led by his son Henri Petitot, the Petitot firm became one of the most influential Art Deco lighting manufacturers in France. Based in Paris, Petitot was known for producing high-quality bronze lighting fixtures, often collaborating with leading French glassmakers including Jean Gauthier, Sabino, Muller Frères, Schneider, and Degué.
Jean Gauthier established his first workshop at 12-14 rue Jean Robert in Paris before expanding to larger production facilities in Ezanville. His work is characterized by exquisite craftsmanship and innovative techniques in molded-pressed and opalescent glass. Depending on the production period, his pieces may be signed EJG (Établissements Jean Gauthier), J. Robert, or Ezan France.
This rare and collectible pair of sconces exemplifies the elegance and craftsmanship of the French Art Deco era, combining luxurious materials with timeless design. An authentic addition to any interior, whether classic or contemporary.
