Pair of 19th Century Louis XVI Style Two-Arms Ormolu Wall-Light Scones

About the Item

A very high quality and rare pair of French 19th century Louis XVI style gilt-bronze twin-branch wall appliques. The superb sconces display sensationally chased grapes and vines below two S scrolled reeded arms. Each arm is seamlessly tied together ending with fluted bobeches with acanthus leaf designed drip pans. At the backplate is an elegant ruban noué amidst berried floral garlands that continue down to a pair of tassels. There is an unidentified makers stamp on the backplate "D & C". Original rich fire gilt throughout.
