Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu Sconces, Attr. to Henry Dasson
About the Item
A striking and high quality true pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu two arm sconces after a model by Gilles-Marie Oppenordt and attributed to Henry Dasson. Each sconce is centered by a lovely foliate bottom finial below the elegant tapered central fut which displays a fluted design and is adorned with fine swaging floral garlands. To the left, a handsome young man draped in a wonderfully executed flowing garment is holding two elegantly scrolled and richly chased arms adorned with acanthus leaves. To the right, is a beautiful maiden holding wonderfully scrolled arms decorated in the same manner. All original gilt throughout.
