About the Item
Sourced in Normandy, France, this magnificent pair of antique, French, bronze, ecclesiastical processional torches certainly make an impression. The detail of the filigree work around the main upper candle holder and central columns are full of gorgeous detail. The torches are in good solid condition but PLEASE NOTE - as with all things antique, there is some variation in shape and form of the fine-work. None of which affects the structural integrity of the torches. The bronze has been left in the condition in which it was sourced and clearly shows evidence of long daily use, which has left it with a natural aged tarnishing and patination. Traditionally used in larger services, in cathedrals and churches, these full sized torches would normally have been stored in iron rings fixed into a wall or wooden base stands.
A beautiful and rare pair of ecclesiastical torches which would make the ultimate statement to any home with wonderful age and history and a great talking point.
Note – Due to their length these processional torches will be unscrewed into 2 parts for shipping (Please see photograph)
