About the Item

Pair of gilt bronze wall "swan" sconces, Paris Empire period, circa 1810. Rare pair of arms with three finely carved bronze lights and ormolu. Model two large palms with a central rosette central sphere extended by a swan that keeps on his head a basket or leave the three branches of lights. Original gilding double amatie shiny patina. Trace signature on the reverse: CH T ......... Work Parisien, Empire period circa 1810. Measures: Height 25 cm; depth: 34.5 cm; width 24 cm. The swan symbol of beauty, bath and toilet and a decorative element used especially under the influence for moving bathroom: faucets, Athenian but also chandeliers and sconces. The newspaper of the Imperial Guard has many furniture deliveries of this type: On 3 September 1808 Galle rue Vivienne No. 9 book for the Palais de Compiègne "four arms of lights and golden swan cizelés mat three sconces, two for the bathroom of the emperor, two bathroom Empress."
