About the Item
A remarkable and most decorative pair of French turn of the century Louis XVI st. rock crystal and silvered metal sconces. Each two arm sconce is centered by a striking rock crystal tapered central fut set on a silvered leaf background below an urn with a charming wonderfully executed parrot perched at the top. Two elegantly scrolled arms branch out adorned with beautiful branches with superb rock crystal leaves also set on a silvered leaf background leading to lovely floral candle cups.
Maison Bagues Founded in Auvergne, France, in 1840 by Nicolas Baguès, the company originally specialized in the creation of liturgical bronzes. Thanks to Baguès’ expansion into bronze lighting and the popularization of electricity, the business quickly found success. The company is best known for introducing to the world their now signature collections of finely crafted iron, gilt and crystal chandeliers and wall sconces Parrots & Foliage.
