Pair of Kazuhide Takahama black Sirio wall lights for Sirrah, Italy, 1977
About the Item
Designed for Sirrah, these wall lights are a very good example of Kazuhide Takahama’s minimal futurist aesthetic – with clean lines and formal restraint. Takahama was born in Japan in 1930 and after completing his studies in Architecture in Tokyo he started working in Kazuo Fuioka’s studio. In 1957, he went to Italy to visit the Triennale in Milan where he met Dino Gavina. He developed his own well-defined stylistic lexis in a climate of profuse cultural exchanges.
The Sirio lights use a halogen bulbs encased within a simple metal hood, adjusting to different moods with a dimmer switch. Made from matte lacquered metal in off-black, the lights are largely in good vintage condition with some surface chips to the paintwork at the sheet metal’s edges. This lamp has been re-wired and PAT tested for UK use. Rewiring for other countries on request. Matching floor lamp also available.
