Pair of Large Arts & Crafts Copper Wall Lights with Crystal Glass Acorn Shades

About the Item

A quality pair of large hand crafted coppered brass wall sconces. Unsigned, English Made circa 1900. The metal work has a distinct likeness to makers such as WAS Benson and F & C Osler being handcrafted and of high quality. Originally gas lights, the wall sconces have had the gas tubes removed and converted to electric. The beautiful flash copper finish has aged well and the light bounces wonderfully from the crystal cut glass acorn shades and around the organically shaped metalwork. Our wooden life size model is 6 ft 1" in. height to give a good idea of size and scale. Arts and Crafts Lighting Arts and Crafts lighting emerged in the late 19th century as part of the broader Arts and Crafts movement, championing a return to craftsmanship and simple, functional design in response to industrialisation. These fixtures were characterised by their honesty of materials, often crafted from hand-hammered brass, copper, or wrought iron, and sometimes paired with mica or glass shades. Unusual Arts & Crafts Three Legged Lamp in the style of WAS Benson A quality cast brass three legged lamp with unusual horse hoof detailing to each of the feet. English Made circa 1900. The lamp is in a style produced by William Arthur Smith Benson (W.A.S Benson) however the makers marks are unclear on one of the feet so this cannot be confirmed. The lamp is designed to be wall mounted but could be used as a table lamp providing it is fixed via the opening in one of the feet. Adjustable via the swivel knuckle joint and hand tensioner. The original vaseline glass shade has a frilled design and when illuminated displays a beautiful blue tone with hints of brown to the tips of the frills.
