John Linnell Attributed Wall Sconces Neoclassical Style

About the Item

This magnificent pair of neoclassical wall sconces is attributed to John Linnell, circa 1770. Inspired by the excavations of the time, circa 1760 Robert Adam introduced high Neoclassicism in his architecture and interior designs. A bold and colorful reverse painting on glass (églomisé) supports two sphinxes and three armed candelabra, illuminating the elaborate foliate scrolls, oval mirrors and a canapé on top. Made in England, circa 1770.
