About the Item

Height with lights : 42 cm (16,5 in.) Charming pair of Rocaille-inspired two-light wall-lights in chiseled, gilded and openwork bronze. With a scalloped shape, they are decorated with numerous foliage and scrolls. Biography : Henri Vian, a bronze-caster active in the second half of the 19th Century, made a lot of interior decorations with chimney mantelpieces, ormolu and patinated-mounted vases, chandeliers… He produced articles of the highest quality. The business, located at 5 rue de Thorigny in Paris (the Salé Mansion, now the Picasso Museum), was continued by Madame Vian after her husband’s death in 1905.

Signed Boin-Taburet à Paris and numbered 34369 and 34370 Lovely pair of Louis XVI style planters with three light arms. Each jardiniere, with their liners in form of a basket based on a three leafy feet and a lobed base. The inner liners are removable. The two French goldsmiths George Boin and his son-in-law Emile Taburet created around 1875 in Paris the company Boin-Taburet. They made many silver pieces inspired by the beautiful services of the eighteenth century.
