About the Item

A striking and sculptural ‘Planet’ wall sconce designed by Chris Hiemstra and produced by Lumiance Holland in the 1970s. This piece features a solid molded plastic wall mount supporting a white lacquered steel shade. Three precisely cut square openings diffuse the light from within, creating a captivating geometric glow that animates any space with graphic rhythm and balance. The sconce can be installed vertically or horizontally — or even used as table lamp — offering versatile display possibilities. The clean lines and modular character makes the lamp a perfect fit for interiors inspired by the Zero Art movement and the playful spirit of the Memphis era. In very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. A rare and expressive example of Dutch progressive lighting design from the 1970s, when Lumiance (formerly Hiemstra Evolux) stood at the forefront of European modernist illumination.
