Rococo Revival 19th Century French Bronze Angel Sconces
About the Item
This pair of Rococo Revival cast bronze figural sconces attracted attention at an estate sale auction in Los Angeles. We found them irresistible. We are still scouring the pieces intermittently for a mark, but our appraiser is confident they are late 19th century French pieces.
Each sconce is in the form of a winged bare-breasted female holding a single candle aloft (fitted with a frosted foliate form glass shade), on an asymmetrical deeply cast wall mount with C-scrolls and acanthus. They are unmarked. The frosted glass rosettes have a condition issue on the base of the flower where it comes into contact with the metal holder. Please see pictures.
There is an attractive patina and the silhouette of the pair raises the presentation level of this gorgeous light source.
The sconces are 15 inches tall and 6.5 inches wide.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. This is a beautiful pair of sconces. The electrical components work perfectly. The only condition issues involve the rims of the glass rosette shades which are chipped where the rim contacts the metal. Please see pictures. They present beautifully.
