About the Item

We have a total of 12 of these incredibly well crafted and stylish wall mounted multidirectional lamps from the First Class cabins of the SS Ausonia motonave cruise ship which from 1956 transported passengers between Venice and Alexandria for Adriatica Lines. The SS Ausonia was a beautiful ship with sumptuous paneling and furniture designed by Nino Zoncada who formed part of the triumvirate of designers for post-war Italian luxury ocean liners along with Gio Ponti and Gustavo Pulitzer-Finali. The armature and wall mount is constructed from heavy duty nickle-plated solid brass; the enameled cone and its internal adjustable reflector are made of aluminum. The color of the cone is a slate blue but we can change color upon request. The cone and interior reflector swivel independently adding further control to the direction of the light. These are THE most finely crafted light fixtures I've ever handled, The engineering and execution of these ranks up there with the best of the best; what Arteluce or Arredoluce might have created for a prestigious project or design competition. In the attached video and the last six images I’ve shown one unrestored in the process of disassembly to give a sense of how these are made. Price shown is per sconce. 12 available. Each takes a single standard size Edison screw lightbulb. See image 10 for an original period brochure photo showing these sconces in situ the Ausonia’s first class staterooms. #oceanliner #motonave

Pair of Maison Lunel Double Arm Sconces with Original Abat Jour
By Maison Lunel
Located in Hanover, MA
We actually have two pair available but this listing is for one pair of 1950s, French wall lamps by Maison Lunel in the style of Jacques Adnet having double brass arms with gunmetal accents. The wedge form backplate has a flick on/off switch. Rewired. We can mount to a custom backplate to accommodate your situation. It is very unusual to find the original two piece shades because they typically do not survive as they are made of colored perforated paper. Typically I would use a tall conical shade with these but a standard size candelabra shade...
