About the Item

Wall lamp made of brass and metal externally painted in bright orange color and internally in a creamy white color; it has two electrical connections, one for direct light and the other for indirect light; at the center, it has a joint that allows you to rotate it 360° according to your desires or your furnishing needs; the brass terminal plate allows you to place it on the wall with extreme ease. The applique was made in a workshop in Milan between 1960 and 1963 is in the perfect Stilnovo style Diabolo model, a product 100% made in Italy. Founded in Milan by Bruno Gatta, in 1946, Stilnovo was for years the most important reality in the world of lighting equipment design. It was a laboratory and a hotbed of ideas during the post-war reconstruction and the following economic boom. Stilnovo triggered interest from the historical publication “Domus”, to become an essential point of reference for prestigious names in Italian design, such as Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, Joe Colombo, Danilo and Corrado Aroldi, Roberto Beretta, Antonio Macchi Cassia, De Pas D’Urbino Lomazzi Studio, Ettore Sottsass, Cini Boeri and Gae Aulenti who designed memorable pieces for this small Milanese company. What characterizes Stilnovo, in the 50s, is the production and marketing of lamps with a particular cone shape. At the time designed by the Centro Stile Interno, they became unique pieces. True symbols of the elegance of the 50s-60s. In fact, they left an indelible mark on the design and fashion industry. The brass parts of our sconce show slight signs of time, but this guarantees its age and authenticity.
