Three-Piece Prismatic Sconce
About the Item
The explosion proof globes have always been a favourite of mine and I offer a number of different examples. But I have never seen an explosion proof fixture with a prismatic Holophane top and cone shaped insert. I was told that these were used a beacons on towers and tall buildings. As expected with this type of lamp the construction and thickness of the glass is heavy. An interesting detail is the heavy spring that sits on the point and supports the inside glass as well as the four clips that hold the layers together, The screw in copper top is typically found on Benjamin fixtures. This lamp is truly unique and gives off a pleasing warm defused light.
