Tito Agnoli Wall-to-Ceiling Lamp for Oluce, c1960

About the Item

An icon of modernist lighting design, Peruvian-born Tito Agnoli studied architecture in Italy and interned for the likes of Gio Ponti and Carlo De Carli. He was inspired by the Bauhaus movement, and his specialism in industrial design is evident in his angular, beautifully engineered lighting pieces. The arms of this deceptively simple lamp create a clean right angle between wall and ceiling. The adjustable shade rotates neatly into position. Made from nickel-plated steel.

This wardrobe is a unique piece, both in its design and use of materials. The parchment is made with goatskin, as parchment originally was produced. The surface is furnished with square shaped slices of parchment, resulting in a rhythmic composition. The corpus rests on trapezoid shaped legs executed in ebonized wood. Remarkable detail are the brass hinges that illustrate an abstract Greek etching...
