About the Item

Stylish and highly decorative pair of Medieval Style, Gothic sconces. With early 20th century lighting as one of our specialities, we have seen a lot of great and unique light fixtures, but never did we come across a pair of handcarved wooden Gothic Revival sconces with hand forged iron lanterns. This handcrafted and excellent condition pair of sconces comes with four remarkable and well carved, winged gargoyle sculptures. Protruding like the mediëval ones on the ledge of a Gothic church tower these winged, mythological creatures are a marvelous sight to see. The combination of the warm patina of the wood and the blackened metal and yellow cathedral glass in the hand-forged lanterns makes this unique pair unlike anything you ever saw. Switched on, the warm light that the cathedral glass lanterns radiate, creates an atmosphere that is not of this time. They just don't make works of lighting art like this anymore which is all the more reason to cherish and enjoy these works of art while you can. Mind you, this unique pair of Gothic sconces will be rewired to the highest standard for safe and immediate usage in the country where they will be used and enjoyed. When purchased by one of our many American (trade) clients, we will also attach American power plugs so that they can be used upon arrival. If you have a room or an entire house in the Gothic Style then finding a place for these rare lights cannot be too difficult, because they will look marvelous everywhere.
