View AllVaisseau Bench in White Bronze over Teak by Paul Mathieu for Stephanie Odegard
By Stephanie Odegard Collection, Paul Mathieu (French)
Located in New York, NY
The traditional metal clad furniture he found in India inspired renowned designer Paul Mathieu to create this elegant and curvaceous storage bench.
The arcing sides and top of this piece are hand carved from solid pieces of teak. The hinged lid opens to reveal a removable inset tray. Pattern makers trace and cut complex forms that will cover the bench from thick sheets of copper, brass or white bronze. Once the bench is joined together, it is meticulously encased in a tight fitting skin of white bronze, copper or brass. The metal finish will tarnish over time, but regular non-abrasive household metal polish can be used to restore the original luster.

Vaisseau Jali Chandelier in White Marble by Paul Mathieu for Stephanie Odegard
By Stephanie Odegard Collection
Located in New York, NY
Origin: When he saw the elegant, translucent pierced marble “jali” windows in the palaces of Mughal India, the renowned designer Paul Mathieu realized that he had discovered a wonderful new concept in lighting design. He decided to backlight a hanging marble jali panel to create an elegant and sophisticated statement in light and stone.
Manufacture: First, a solid sheet of marble is hand carved into a curved, gently billowing panel. Pierced jali tracery work is then hand carved into the surface, through which light and air pass with ease. Matching marble cones of light are then suspended from behind, resulting in a magnificent glowing sail of stone.

Stéphanie Balini’s Delos sconce was created in 2024. As for each of her light fixtures, Stéphanie Balini started by sculpting a first mold in wood and plaster. The sconce is then made with bronze by sand casting, and later patined in the Parisian workshops. This succession of techniques allows the final piece to highlight the textured appearance of the artist’s work. The LED electrification system gives the sconce a double beam lighting...
