Vintage Gepo Amsterdam Chrome Wall Sconce Lamp,1960s Beautiful chrome vintage design Gepo wall lamp - arc lamp. Period: 60s/70s. Gepo Amsterdam, Dutch design wall lamp. This lamp provides both direct and/or indirect light, the bulb can be rotated 180 degrees. The lamp can be adjusted in any desired direction. Material: chrome sphere in combination with iron. Considering its age still in very good vintage condition. Gepo NV A Dutch family business founded in 1965 in Amsterdam by the Posthuma brothers. Peter (Sales Director) and Jules (Purchasing and Marketing), Archi and Rob (Production) The name 'Gepo' comes from a combination of 'Gebroeders Posthuma'. The two brothers started their company with about €35 in capital (borrowed from their mother). In 1972 the company achieved a turnover of no less than €1 million. The aim of the company was to produce lighting at democratic prices with a target group of the middle class They also wanted to equip all their lamps with a dimmer, which was not yet technically up to date at the time and relatively expensive to purchase. Po specialized mainly in designs of floor, wall, table and arc lamps with the typical Space Age design. The brand often used parts in chrome finished with transparent drilled suspensions in plexi (typical of the Gepo brand) A well-known Gepo lamp is the Napoli floor lamp, designed at the end of the 1960s and equipped with special handles at the light points. Little is known about Gepo, but one thing is certain. The known lamps are one by one beautiful, elegant and timeless top design pieces. Gepo N.V. ended its activities sometime in the early 1980s.
