About the Item

Pair of four-light gilded bronze candlesticks with patinated bronze putti and white marble base, Second half of the 18th century, France The pair of delicious candlesticks was made in France in the second half of the 18th century, Louis XVI. The two candlesticks, specular between them, are composed of a cylindrical base in white marble with reserves in chiselled and gilded bronze on which rest two winged putti made with a casting of bronze with dark patina finish. The naked putti have covered their nakedness with a chiseled and gilded bronze cloth. The two figures hold in their hands a large stem from which branch three curvilinear arms carries candles. The candle holders are made of finely chiselled gilded bronze, decorated with phytophorous acanthus leaf motifs. From the central stem rises vertically a fourth candle door, in gilded bronze, which culminates higher than the others, with a semi-ovoid decorative element chiselled with foliate motifs. These refined candlesticks are easily placed individually or in pairs, over a chest of drawers, a console, a guéridon or a table of any room of your home or study. They will be suitable alongside antique furniture or modern furnishings and will give an elegant decoration thanks to the chromatic play that is created among the different materials used.
