About the Item

This 1970s hand-sculpted Danish sculptural ceramic table lamp by Flemming Ross is a true statement piece. Monumental and eye-catching, this amazing piece of ceramic art is tall and in the shape of a woman's upper body, one of the ceramic artist Flemming Ross' famours Thurø Girls. The base is matte while the top of the head, ears and decorations are glazed in tones of green, brown and black. Highly detailed i.e. the flowers/ears in 3 layers, engraved pattern on the head decoration and the engraved eyelashes and mouth shaped as a heart. The indicated height of 52 cm is measured with the socket, the ceramic part only is 44 cm high. In very good vintage condition with minimal signs of age and wear. Danish ceramical artist Flemming Ross (1944-2018) was most renowned for his series of 'Thurø-piger' (Thurø girls), named after the Danish island Thurø where he lived and had his ceramic workshop.
