About the Item

An elegant and rare 19th century Grand Tour black painted ceramic krater vase, inspired by Ancient Greek designs, now expertly mounted as a table lamp. The vase is of a striking volute krater form, offering a refined addition to any interior. A similar design was published by Thomas Hope in 1807 in his influential book on interior design, 'Household Furniture and Interior Decoration' (see last image).
