About the Item

Important accolay lamp dans le style de georges pelletier in vintage 1970 ceramic. Resin lampshade, colored resin cabochon in the base. The lamp has double lighting. Very good condition. Georges Pelletier was born in Brussels on 10.09.1938. He spent two years at the Académie Charpentier in Paris (École des arts et métiers), now the Musée Picasso. Atelier Accolay The term Poterie d'Accolay covers the production of a community of potters based in the village of Accolay, in the Yonne department. This production center was created by four former students of Alexandre Kostanda. Active from 1945 to 1989, their pottery is characterized by great technical inventiveness and extremely abundant production. The community of potters exploited the proximity of the N6 motorway by taking over service stations and turning them into permanent exhibition sites on the migration circuit of Parisian tourists. Their exhibition buildings, inspired by the constructions of the Le Mans 24-hour race circuit, became an obligatory stopover for holidaymakers in transit. This form of marketing continued at the entrance to Vermenton until the factories closed in 1983. Georges Pelletier From 1954 to 1956, he trained in drawing at the Académie Charpentier, where he also prepared for the competitive examination for the École des métiers d'art. Very curious, he listened attentively to the artistic advice of his older classmates. Occasionally, he went to the studio of the artist Fernand Léger, where he presented his work to the studio head and trained in drawing. In 1955, at the age of sixteen, he entered the École des métiers d'art. To perfect his skills, he attended Claude Pantzer's workshop. During the school vacations, he works at Poteries d'Accolay.
