Aluminium sheet metal ''Cassiopeia'' table lamp by Max Sauze, 1970s

About the Item

An iconic Max Sauze ''Cassiopeia'' table lamp/also suitable as pendant. Very decorative geometrical design, very pleasing to the eye. It's a lamp as well as a sculpture. It has many different forms and shapes depending on the angle it's viewed from. The lamp has been used as a prop in famous films with Louis de Funer and also more recently in House of Gucci (featuring Lady Gaga - see last picture). Sauze (1933 - ) is an Algerian-French ''master of metal''. Trained at l'École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts d’Alger and l'École Camondo in Paris. Sauze’s most famous designs are named after constellations and other heavenly bodies, like this complexly geometric Cassiopeia lamp (ca. 1969), which was originally designed for the Congress Center in Aix en Provence. Condition is very good regarding its age. The aluminium sheets have been individually, meticulously cleaned. On the side that's always been up there is some light patina (tiny spots of corrosion). The lamp comes with the current E14 energy saving lightbulb

Set of 1920s Dutch modernist bedside lamps in the manner of Frank Lloyd Wright
By (after) Frank Lloyd Wright
Located in EVERDINGEN, NL
A set of modernist Frank Lloyd Wright inspired table lamps or bedside lamps, ca. 1920. These lamps come from a private collection and were once purchased in Amsterdam. They were bought as a wedding present at the time, possibly at Metz & Co, the famous Dutch Warehouse that was one of the first to sell modernist and 'De Stijl' furniture, art and lamps (Rietveld, Van der Leck e.o.). These lamp have perfect proportions and the design is very pleasing to the eye. They would look great as accent pieces in either minimalist, eclectic or even modern interiors. The design with the lightbulb enclosed in a wooden casing and the focus on horizontal lines and the cantilever is clearly inspired on Frank Lloyd Wright ; The design shows the same principle that Frank Lloyd Wright used with his Taliesin lamp...

Modular Typ 505 lamp by Curt Fischer for Midgard, 1960s
By Curt Fischer, Midgard
Located in EVERDINGEN, NL
A TYP 505 wall mounted lamp, based on the iconic TYP 113. This modular lamp was produced with 3 different arm lengths, 3 types of (rotating) lampshades and a choice in type of joints. The lamp is in good condition, rewired and all parts working and rotating. The original lightswitch is also still present and working. Curt Fischer is well known for his innovative designs and still regarded as one of the greatest 20th-century inventors. At the time, just after WW1, recovering from the war, people worked long hours until late in the evening. The then-typical lamps would only cast light from the ceiling, causing the shadow of the worker’s body and head to cast shades over their projects. For an inventor like Curt Fischer, who had transformed horse-drawn coaches into mobile radio...
