Antique Wine Bottle Table Lamp Pair Celebrating World War I Victory

About the Item

War End Celebration table lamps marble, wine bottles. 14 1/8" tall and 2 7/8" wide Presented here is a pair of amber hock or rhine bottles produced between 1890-1915. They are mounted to two verdigris marble bases and have been newly rewired at the sockets, though the original hardware is still available, if desired. They were obtained from an estate featuring purchased articles from Antique Dealer Don Yarton, and are thought to be period pieces from early 20th century celebrating the end of World War I with the marble from Italy and the lamps from France, likely assembled in France. The bottles have all the correct characteristics of French production, standing 14 1/8" tall and 2 7/8" wide. The characteristic horizontal lines on the neck and bulbous bottom are all correct. The lamps stand 6" wide at the base and 26" tall with the light switch located at the 17" mark. Steel rods inserted through the bottles hold the hardware together and old rubber which is original to the lamps is still present mounting them to the top and bottom with the original brass hardware. Classification is difficult though technically these represent Arts and Crafts.
