About the Item

Minimal metal floor lamp by Dutch lighting designer J.J. Hoogervorst and produced by Anvia Almelo, The Netherlands, 1950s. This model designed by J.J. Hoogervorst bears the colors most of his lighting objects have: black and white. It are those colors that clearly represent the austerity the Dutch midcentury design period had. The design and construction is minimal yet elegant in our opinion. Over 60 years old and still a very modern appearance. Because of its large pole with the shade attached, it is a perfect lamp for reading. You can easily change its position in different angles. The lamp can fixed to a position with the locking mechanism in the centre. This is a very rare model by Hoogervorst and Anvia. We have never seen it before. We think it is an early example before he designed the counter balance floor light, which has many resemblances with our floor light. A Dutch midcentury collector’s item. The floor lamp is in good working condition. It is made of metal and has traces of use the black and white paint. The condition is original. It can be used in the USA by changing the plug. We can arrange this if desired. Anvia was a Dutch lightning manufacturer from the 1950s known for its many Classic designs. The most famous designer was J.J.M Hoogervorst. He designed the “Model 6019” table or desk light, “Stiletto” floor lamp, “Star Light” pendant and “Model 7105” wall lamp. This metal, Dutch industrial floor lamp will make a beautiful match with other Dutch midcentury design objects like the sofa’s or lounge chairs made by ’t Spectrum or the “Japanese Series” sideboards or dining table by Cees Braakman.
