About the Item

This striking smoked gray mirrored glass table lamp is the medium-sized version (Height: 37 cm / 14.56 in) of the renowned sculptural lighting series designed in the early 1970s by Gruppo A.R.D.I.T.I. (Trassinelli, Gamberini, and Mazzoni) for the Nucleo Division of Sormani, Italy. A true example of futuristic Italian design, this five-sided lamp appears as a sleek, mirrored cube when switched off. When illuminated, it transforms into an alluring, sculptural light object that plays with reflection, form, and shadow. This piece embodies the philosophy of Gruppo A.R.D.I.T.I., who were decades ahead of their time in conceptualizing light as a sculptural medium, rather than a simple functional element. Their groundbreaking work, including the low-voltage and Prismar series, is now part of permanent collections in leading design museums worldwide. Condition: Excellent vintage condition with minor signs of age. Fully functional. Bulb: Fitted with an original 100W silver screened bulb (included). A transformer would do for US standards (not included). Dimensions: Height: 37 cm (14.56 in) Width: Approx. 30 cm (11.81 in) Depth: Approx. 30 cm (11.81 in) The lamp bears the original Sormani Nucleo Division label as well as a manufacturer’s label signed by Luigi Sormani's daughter, confirming its authenticity and provenance. This rare Italian modernist lamp is ideal for collectors of radical design, lovers of mirrored surfaces, or interiors that seek a striking light sculpture with strong architectural character.
