About the Item
Meticulously handcrafted by Amitābha Studio from an iconic Charles Catteau design, this Art Deco “Pineapple” vase by Boch Frères Keramis has been masterfully reimagined with a bespoke gathered silk Ikat lampshade, marrying Art Deco refinement with the vivid narrative of Central Asian textile craft.
This ceramic Art Deco vase—commonly referred to as the pineapple vase—was produced by Boch Frères Keramis in La Louvière, Belgium between 1920 and 1930. Designed by Charles Catteau, the vase features a repeating geometric relief pattern molded into its ovoid form and finished with a fine ivory craquelure glaze. Known as Model 1118 in the Boch Frères catalog, it reflects Catteau’s Art Deco vocabulary: bold geometry, stylized natural references, and technical innovation in glazing.
The ivory-craquelé relief of the ceramic base beautifully contrasts the rich pattern of the hand-woven and hand-dyed Uzbek Ikat lampshade, embodying the pattern drenching movement—layered textures and bold motifs that confer warmth, depth, and personal expression within residential interiors.
Ideal for interiors that embrace a refined bohemian or luxe maximalist aesthetic, this piece doubles as a striking lighting fixture and visual anchor. In homes where “more is more,” the lamp’s fusion of sculptural form and artisanal pattern transforms everyday light into art.

About Amitābha Studio:
Amitābha Studio is a design atelier dedicated to transforming historic European ceramics into one-of-a-kind lighting objects. Each lamp is crafted with deep reverence for the original form, using non-invasive methods that preserve the integrity of every antique or vintage vase. We pair these bases with bespoke lampshades—often made from luxurious textiles such as vintage sari silks or fine European fabrics—and finish each piece with carefully selected cords, fittings, and handmade brass elements. Our work is guided by a commitment to sustainability, cultural heritage, and timeless design.
About Charles Catteau & Boch Frères Keramis
Charles Catteau (1880–1966), trained at Sèvres and briefly at Nymphenburg, became the artistic force behind Boch Frères Keramis in La Louvière from 1906, leading its Atelier de Fantaisie until 1948. Under his direction, the factory produced hundreds of richly stylized Art Deco wares—melding Japonisme, African, and Cubist influences with innovative glazes and forms—while upholding his democratic vision of “art for all” through beautifully crafted ceramics. His work helped propel Belgian ceramic artistry onto the global stage, including earning a major award at the 1925 Paris International Decorative Arts Exhibition.

Spanish Mid-Century Punter Green Albarello Table Lamp — Mudéjar Revival
By Domingo Punter e Hijos
Located in AMSTERDAM, NL
Meticulously hand-crafted by Amitābha Studio from a vintage Punter Teruel vase in the celebrated Spanish Revival style, this one-of-a-kind lamp bridges medieval heritage and mid-century design. The albarello-shaped base, rooted in Aragón’s ceramic traditions, is finished in a white tin glaze and painted freehand in deep green and manganese black—the iconic palette of Teruel pottery since the 14th century.
Panels of decoration unfold across the lamp’s surface: a stylized long-necked bird, swelling seed pods, and a heraldic face within a medallion. These bold motifs, painted with confident brushstrokes, reflect the Mudéjar Revival movement, which reimagined medieval patterns with modern artistry. At the foot, the reddish terracotta clay is revealed, proudly inscribed “PUNTER,” a rare and direct signature from this historic workshop.
To complement the ceramic base, Amitābha Studio has paired the piece with a bespoke lampshade in a green, black, and white tweed weave. Its textured pattern echoes the glaze’s tones, while a double-cord passementerie trim by Houlès lends refinement. When illuminated, the lamp casts a warm, inviting glow that enhances both classic and contemporary interiors.
