Art Deco German Ikora Table Lamp from WMF, 1930s
About the Item
Elegant table lamp from wmf from the 1930s.
a functional design. The simple umbrella shape is broken up by an additional cathedral on the top. A very subtle, decorative element on this very simple lamp. The umbrella is connected to the shaft via a screw with a flat head. The shaft ends in a simple plate foot.
there is a hole on the back at the bottom of the shaft, which is currently without function. That was the original cable outlet because the lamp was previously equipped with an intermediate cord switch. In 1953 a practical pressure switch was used on the foot. Incidentally, this is documented very precisely on the inside of the cover of the foot.
the lamp seems to be a former authority lamp and is stamped on the underside with "stadtwerke würzburg".

a functional design classic from the early 20th century. The lamp still has the original color - a shade of green - with the corresponding patina. The widely projecting umbrella, which sits at the end of an angled shaft, is striking. The shaft is chrome-colored. The color of the shade is repeated in the base. The umbrella is pivoted. This means the light can be individually aligned using the rotating shaft and shade. The height of the lamp can also be adjusted by pulling the shaft out of the base.
