About the Item

This is a very old lamp from the 19th century, a patina green mistress of the lights table lamp. The light switches are marked Weber and Weber Patent stamps on the hardware.* Below is a little information. It has glass globes, however not sure if they are original to this lamp. The base for the globes wobbles and it seems to be intended and original. You would rarely find multiple manufacturers of one item or invention. In like manner in the early days you would also commonly find a note of a catalog company being a "Sole Distributor" of one single item. While this worked in the early years, as more competition and inventions began to flourish, it was more rarely seen. Most all of this seems to change in about 1897 when General Electric became less concerned with patent wars and began to target more on bringing everyone together. By 1900 you start to see more licensing taking place which makes this section and identifying different lighting items much more difficult. An example of this would be two inventions which started being licensed by other manufacturers about the same time frame which was Bryant's patent for their wrinkle shell and Hubbell's patent for their detachable chain guide. Within only a few years virtually all manufacturers (Arrow, Weber, P&S, H&H, GE, Paiste, etc., etc.) were using Bryant's wrinkle shell together with Hubbell's detachable chain guide.
