About the Item
A cast-brass Art Nouveau table lamp attributed to WAS Benson.
The domed brass base raised on three bun feet. The column decorated with three scrolling branches.
Bears the hallmarks of William Arthur Smith Benson’s designs, who campaigned for the National Exhibition of the Arts for “Crafts” to be exhibited as an art form which lead to the formation of the Arts and Crafts movement. By 1900 Benson retailed lamps both in England and Europe. In Paris Benson’s light’s were displayed in Siegfrield Bing’s gallery “Maison L’art Nouveau”.

Wonderful art nouveau table lamp with an unusual design. This table lamp in patinated brass is very art nouveau with its curvy and floral shapes and sharp edges. A great and very distinct design which is uncommon to find. Look at the way the three vertical elements bend and curve towards the top of the lamp, or at the three feet which stand very elegantly on the surface.
