Arts and Crafts Stained Glass Table or Desk Lamp w. Hand Painted Poppy Flowers

About the Item

Very rare, large size, top quality made and great condition antique lamp. This work-of-art-table-lamp from the earliest years of the 1900s is of museum quality and condition. Not only has it one of the most beautiful color combinations you ever saw, it also comes with extremely well painted and realistic poppy flowers. Poppies have long been used as a symbol of sleep, peace, and death: sleep because the opium extracted from them is a sedative and death because of the blood-red colour of the red poppy in particular. In Greek and Roman myths poppies were also used as offerings to the dead. The American Legion Family, for example, also uses the red poppy as its symbol. Design and quality wise this unique table lamp is right up there with some of the mushroom table lamps by Emile Gallé or Daum of France. However, the technique with which this stunning lamp was made differs very much from those lamps. If these poppy flowers would have only been hand-painted onto the glass then they would have already dried up and faded years ago. These leafs and flowers however were fired onto the glass in the keln (in several stages). This time consuming, risky and costly technique makes these poppy flower decorations extremely durable, very much like the stained glass scenes in the windows of churches and cathedrals. Both the shade and the base are signed by the artist who perfectly hand-painted this work of beauty. We believe it reads P. Josh. In our antique selling careers we have found unique and incredibly handsome pieces made by master craftsman of whom we then could not find any other works. This is another one of those rare finds of amazing quality and beauty and we are certain it too will find a good home soon. So if you appreciate Arts and Crafts antiques in general and (the deeper meaning of) poppy flowers in particular then this stunning antique lamp could be yours to own and enjoy soon. Both on and off you could not wish for a more elegant and artistic antique table lamp to grace your living space. And no matter where you decide to have this eyecatcher on display it will never fail to impress you or anyone visiting. This stunning Arts and Crafts table lamp really ticks all the boxes and if you agree with us then there really is only one box left to tick; it is in the upper right corner. Mind you, this lamp is rewired for safe and immediate usage in the USA as well and our fair price for this one of a kind antique also includes perfect packing and even worldwide delivery from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days. Maximum height x diameter: 20.5 x 9.5 inches. Diameter of the base: 6.7 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again).

Indoor Outdoor Arts & Crafts Style Floral Table Lamps
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Clever and stylish pair of indoor / outdoor Table lamps. The early 21st century lamps are made of resin making them resilient against weather. The lamps feature grounded, heavy duty cords, switches encapsulated in rubber and glass domed sockets. All these attributes prevent water from infiltrating the electric components. It’s safe to use these on your deck, lanai, porch, balcony or patio. The lamps are just as well suited for use indoors. You can even add a standard lamp shade if you wish. The technologically advanced lamps have a whimsical Arts & Crafts design. The lamps look and feel like metal, but it’s resin. In this case, it’s better to have resin. Otherwise metal would rust. We’ve outfitted the lamps with fairy bulbs. These bulbs give a soft, ambient, flickering light.
