About the Item
A modernist table lamp, model E1145, produced by the Swedish manufacturer ASEA Belysning in the 1950s. It features a strict geometric base supporting a lamp holder fitted with a counterweight, allowing the fixture to tilt and transform from a table lamp into a wall lamp. Equipped with an integrated light switch and a white conical lampshade. Stamped with the ASEA hallmark and model number.
ASEA, the Swedish electrical company, was established as early as 1883, specializing in the production of electrical lights and generators. By the late 1940s, ASEA had acquired several rival companies, solidifying its position as one of Sweden's premier manufacturers of light fixtures. ASEA's Stockholm drawing office was responsible for the development of numerous modernistic lamps, designed for both public spaces and domestic applications. The company collaborated with several renowned designers, including Hans Bergström and Uno Kristiansson, over the years.
