Bakelite 'Sigma' 1930s Desk Lamp by Christian Dell
About the Item
This desk lamp - the model 'Sigma' was made by Dell in the 1930s.
With it's classic midcentury design and lovely colour, this is a super stylish desk lamp, or bedside light. Bakelite is renowned for it's versatility and strength.
Rewired with twisted flex for the UK. We can have this changed for any destination - please get in touch for more information.
Diameter of the shade is 17cm.
Christian Dell began his career in silver forging in 1911 at the Saxon college of arts and crafts in Weimar.
From 1922 to 1925 he worked as a foreman of the metal workshop at the Bauhaus in Weimar where he was the man behind a highly innovative and pioneering style of design. By 1926 Christian Dell was sketching lamps, usually for the lamp factory Gebr. Kaiser & Co in Neheim Hüsten.
