Bent Karlby Table Lamp in Patinated Brass and Teak for Lyfa, Denmark, 1950s.
This elegant table lamp is a rare model by Danish designer Bent Karlby, for Danish brand LYFA. The proportions of this table lamp are very subtle, to be seen in both the shade and the stem. The brass shade is beautifully angled, on top one finds the tapered mounting bolt, which makes a refined detail. The vertical rod that holds the shade is smoothly tapered, starting with a solid teak element connected to the brass bottom plate. The brass of the shade, rod and base show wonderful patina.
Bent Karlby (Denmark, 1912-1998) is considered to be one of the most versatile lighting designers of the 20thcentury. His work is characterized by both organic shapes and clear lines, functional. For over 40 years he collaborated with the Danish brand LYFA, creating numerous interesting lighting designs.
