Meticulously handcrafted by Amitābha Studio in Amsterdam, our Haven table lamp is a one-of-a-kind creation, featuring a vintage Royal Delft (De Porceleyne Fles) White (Delfts Wit) vase. The vase, with its delicately ribbed texture, uniquely captures and reflects light, making it a standout piece. We've paired this remarkable base with a custom lampshade made from Liberty Fabric’s limited edition Marquess Garden Chesham Sateen in Lapis, adding a luxurious touch that complements the vase's crisp white. The lamp was created without harming the original vase in any way.
Royal Delft, originally known as De Porceleyne Fles, is the last surviving ceramics factory of the 32 that were established in Delft during the 17th century. Founded in 1653, this esteemed Dutch manufacturer has been producing Delftware for over 360 years. In the 1930s, they introduced the White Delft collection during a time when the demand for hand-painted Delftware had dwindled due to the economic depression and World War II. The White Delft pieces, known for their exquisite forms rather than hand-painted designs, became highly sought after for their simplicity and artistry. Production of the White Delft collection ceased in 1976, making these pieces particularly rare today.
The Marquess Garden fabric used for the lampshade draws inspiration from a 1977 Liberty archive design, reflecting the rich tradition of Arts and Crafts revival style. The vivid pattern, expertly printed in Italy on Chesham sateen, echoes the fashionable Dutch Delft and Persian porcelain motifs of the late 19th century, creating a harmonious blend of history and contemporary elegance.
