Marc's Bio via A.I. :
Marc du Plantier (1901–1975) was a highly regarded French artist, designer, and decorator of the 20th century, known for his unique aesthetic that blended neoclassicism with modern elements.
Early Life and Training:
Born in Madagascar in 1901, du Plantier initially pursued mathematics before changing his focus to the arts. He trained as an architect at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts and as a painter at the Académie Julian in Paris, developing a strong command of classical rigor and form.
Career and Style:
Du Plantier began his professional career in the fashion industry, designing models for houses like Doucet-Doeuillet and Jenny. By 1928, he had shifted his focus to furniture and interior design, quickly gaining a reputation among the Parisian elite and nobility for his sophisticated style.
His architectural vocabulary was characterized by the precision of lines, use of color, indirect lighting, and mirrors. He was known for using luxurious and rare materials, such as semi-precious stones, coral, and wrought iron, often combined with geometric metal or wood frames. His work embodied French taste and elegance in the 1940s, often drawing inspiration from Antiquity and incorporating Egyptian motifs.
Key Projects and Global Influence:
Throughout his career, du Plantier undertook numerous significant projects, including:
-His apartment on the Rue du Belvédère, a hub for Paris society in the 1930s.
-An apartment overlooking the Bay of Algiers, considered a high point of interior decoration of its time.
-Palaces in Madrid where he lived and worked from 1938 to 1949, developing a remarkable form of neoclassicism.
-The drawing room of the French embassy in Ottawa.
In the 1960s, a decline in private commissions led him to move to Mexico and then Los Angeles, where contact with American Pop Art influenced his later work, although he never abandoned his classical aesthetic rigor. He returned to Paris later in his career and continued to create angular, modern pieces until his death in 1975.
Marc du Plantier's works are highly sought after at auction, with pieces realizing significant prices. Monographs, such as the one published by Editions Norma, cover his extensive body of work.

Signed Marcello Fantoni Torched Bronze Table Lamp Mid-Century Modern Italian
By Marcello Fantoni
Located in North Miami, FL
This sculptural and monumental RARE Mid-Century Modern vintage signed Italian amazing bronze lamp by the noted Italian artist; Marcello Fantoni was done in Florence, Italy for Raymor. Signed on the bottom as such. The machine spinning torch color bronze work creates a swirling effect that looks like abalone. This is a very hard process to do and in todays world not even feasible. No special artist even knows this process now or can replicate it. The scale is impressive, and the Greek key torched bronze design is so fantastic. It has the original milk glass carrier...

JEAN-CHARLES MOREUX
(1889-1956)
French architect and designer Jean-Charles Moreux was born in 1889 at the Chateau de Joncy in Saone-et-Loire. He studied at l’Ecole de Beaux-Arts in Paris (1914-22) where he spent the period during World War I working on the preservation of works of art. While attending l’Ecole he became friends with the architect Jean Lurcat and his brothers, Andre and Paul Vera.
In 1924 he exhibited his first pieces of furniture at the Salon d’Automne. He had a preference for poetic living spaces and felt that people deserved better than Corbusier’s “machines for living in”. He was anxious to introduce aspects of the marvelous into architecture and living spaces. His creations drew upon the classical, baroque, and rococo styles.
Moreux’s well-known clients included the Baron Robert de Rothschild and Bolette Natanson...
