Brutalist italian cocoon table lamp, 1970s
About the Item
Italian table lamp from the 70s. The body and structure are made of polished brass, and the upper shade is made of a metal frame covered with cocoon resin.
The material of cocoon was invented after World War II to protect unarmed warships and other unprotected items. It is made of powdered plastic and fiberglass. Arturo Eisenkeil imported this material to Italy, with which he made lamps and marketed them.
For an E27 bulb. Good condition, with its patina on the metal and shade. Original electrical installation reviewed.
