About the Item
A 1930's Bauhaus German double desk lamp. Model 6580 "Super" by Christian Dell. Manufactured by Kaiser Idell. The lamp's shades and base are enameled in black. The lamp's shade has the manufacturer's mark. The movable chromed arms's height can be adjusted to a maximum of 58 cm. It has its original wiring.
Christian Dell (1893 - 1974) was a German silversmith and industrial designer. He studied at the Saxon College of Arts and Crafts in Weimar and worked as a metalwork teacher in the Weimar Bauhaus and the Frankfurt School of Arts, where he worked until 1933. He is known by his wide collection of lamps, manufactured by Kaiser Idell during the 1930's. The 6580 "Super" is one of its finest examples.
