Chromed metal lamp with flexible stem 10366 by Michel Boyer, Verre Lumière 1968
About the Item
Chromed metal lamp with flexible stem by Michel Boyer, Verre Lumière 1968
Beautiful minimalist desk metal lamp with a 360 degrees adjustable diffuser. Good original condition, slight defect on the foot (see picture 7) and original electrification.
An interior architect and designer, Michel Boyer received major private commissions from the end of the 1960s onwards and was entrusted with the creation of many prestigious groups. Seduced by his design for the Rothschild bank, one of his most striking creations, many people gave him carte blanche. Michel Boyer thus worked in complete freedom, creating particularly harmonious ensembles where the decoration was enriched by furniture, lighting, and other decorative objects. Concerned about the quality of this production, he will himself distribute and present his furniture at the Galerie Rouve.
The diversity and richness of his work is illustrated by projects carried out in France for L'Oréal, Dior, Balmain and Lanvin, and more recently for Alstom and Vivendi Environment. Abroad, he has acted as an ambassador for our country, setting up our diplomatic representations in Washington and Brasilia.
Michel Boyer used materials that were new at the time, such as post-formed, laminated or fiberglass, whose formal resources he exploited to create chairs and coffee tables.
1970 was the era of metal, and the designer successfully 'tamed' it; steel was bent and curved for the famous 'x' stool; it was bent into a tube to 'embrace' the leather-cushioned armchair; it still frames the impressive desk of Barons Elie and Alain de Rothschild. Michel Boyer also uses woods such as pear or ramin, whose species and finishes he combines in a powerful and always infinitely elegant play of contrasts.

Rope Lamp by Audoux Minnet, 1960's
By Adrien Audoux and Frida Minnet
Located in PARIS, FR
The absence of an Audoux-Minnet catalog means that we have only partial knowledge of their production. We do know, however, that it was certainly during their honeymoon that Adrien Audoux, originally from Franche-Comté, and Frida Minnet, originally from Switzerland, decided to set up their business in Cannes in 1929.
Frida Minnet's father was himself a rattan furniture manufacturer in Montreux, where his store was located. He was invaluable in helping the young couple set up shop, producing mainly rattan furniture. In 1942, the company moved to Golfe-Juan, not far from Vallauris, where Jean Bonaudi also produced rattan furniture. Here, customers from La Rievera, made up of wealthy Britons and Americans attracted by "French taste", bought their furniture. In the '50s, the company, better known as "le Doux Minet" and taking a black kitten as its symbol, invented a new style of furniture that would make their reputation. The frame, often in oak or beech, is entirely covered in raffia. The seats are then covered with raffia made of checkerboard or coarse-mesh braided mats. Audoux-Minnet's flagship armchair, whose beech legs form a single unit with the armrests, was manufactured by the Vibo company in Vesoul. Audoux-Minnet furniture bears an oblong plate...
