"Coban" table lamp, Renato Toso, Leucos, 1972
About the Item
Roberto Pamio (Italian, b.1937) has often work with Renato Toso (Italian, b.1940) for Leucos. Here is an exemple of a mid-1980 edition of the "Coban" table light. Originally designed in 1972, it was declined as wall and ceiling lights.
The tighten system made out of backelite (Material made from a thermosetting phenol formaldehyde resin also called phenoplast. It was the first plastic made from synthetic polymers) has been replaced by 3D print pieces. Bakelite was used as it has a well resistance to the heat, less as structural pieces. In this case, with the wear of time, it was preferable to replace it.
Other than that, the lamp is in fair condition.

- Condition:Replacements made: As explained in the description, tighten bakelite screws has been replaced by 3D printed pieces. Those pieces has been scanned from the original pieces. Shape, colour, aspect has been kept as close as possible to the original. Rewired. Wear consistent with age and use.
