About the Item
Danish Mid-Century stoneware table lamp of the 1960-70s. Designed by Alex Svendsen.
Very nice graphic pattern in light blue on a dark blue and green background with brown accents. Deep glaze on the bottom, the top is raw, without glaze.
Manufactured by Søholm Stentøj (Soholm pottery) on the island of Bornholm, Denmark. Signed with the manufacturer's mark and the initials of the designer (AS).
Søholm Stentøj, which means Soholm’s sandstone, was founded in 1835 by Herman Sonne Wolffsen and Edvard Sonne. The name Søholm, comes from the factory where the two founders were employed, a pottery near Copenhagen, in 1828-1839. It was the oldest factory operating in Bornholm, a Danish island off the south coast of Sweden, until it closed in 1996.
In the middle of the 20th century, Søholm produced a wide range of stoneware in various patterns and shapes. Several Designers worked for Søholm Stentøj as Einar Johansen, Maria Philippi, Noomi Backhausen among others.
The lamp comes with its original Le Klint lampshade.
New wiring and E26-E27 socket. Works with 110v and 220v.
The EU-plug can be replaced by US-plugs for free.
