Danish XXL Modern Ceramic Lamp by I-L Koefoed, Royal Copenhagen Fog&Morup 1960s

About the Item

Large table lamp from the late 1960s or early 1970s. This lamp has been manufactured by Royal Copenhagen and sold by Fog & Mørup, Denmark. Impressive bold graphic design by Inge-Lise Koefoed, featuring a decor in dark blue with greyish / beige elements. The lamp is part of the "Tenera" series which was initially sold under the Aluminia brandname. The brand-name was changed to Royal Copenhagen in 1972. Nils Thorsson became Art Director of Royal Copenhagen in 1958. He introduced several young female artists from Denmark, Norway and Sweden to the company to create a new house-style. The new stoneware and faience series produced during the 60s and 70s became a big success for Royal Copenhagen. Inge-Lise Kofoed was one of these artists, she was educated at the Arts and Crafts School in Copenhagen 1956-1960. The lamp is marked “Fog & Morup Copenhagen” and "A" for Aluminia under the base.
