The matt finished globe sits gracefully atop the embroidered panel, which is inspired by the mythological peacock, inspired by one of the most famous Chinese fables called ‘Classic of Mountains and Seas’, which is a colourful tale of mythic creatures, rituals and medicine. This leopard motif is inspired by the ranking symbol embroidered on the government officials’ gowns during the Qing Dynasty. Other animals such as, crane, dragon and phoenix were used to signify different ranks. Leopard is a sacred animal in Ancient Chinese culture, which represents strength, and perseverance.
