Early 20th Century Trompe L'oeil Carved Wood Lamp
About the Item
This is a rare piece from the art nouveau period. It is hard to believe your eyes--the sculpted lamp appears to be white porcelain--but look again. It is wood that mimics blanc de chine porcelain. Stunning.
A vintage carved and white painted tromp-l'oeil bird lamp from the early 20th Century. The carved and white painted lamp body is comprised of tall reeds and branches with standing birds, a crane, a small wren and others, on a naturalistically rendered circular base with rosettes. Unmarked. The hand-carved column rests on a circular base that includes rosettes and reeds, and the monochromatic coloring helps create this elegant lamp--versatile statement lighting.
