About the Item

Eduard-Wilfrid Buquet Table Lamp EB 27 in Sterling Silver for Tecnolumen. Current production, hand-made on request. When you are searching for something extraordinary, you may have found it in this iconic table or desk lamp in sterling silver. The story of this Buquet lamp is a very interesting one. At 4.29 p.m. on 9th February, 1927 Eduard-Wilfrid Buquet feild his patent for parts of this table lamp, particularly the flexible joints, at the Ministère du Commerce et l'Industrie in Paris. Various versions were produced until the 1940's. Although little is known about Buquet we do know that he produced this lamp himself and probably designed it as well. The contemporary EB 27 lamp is impressively functional, stunningly elegant and mysteriously fragile. It was developed in 1925 by a French engineer and designer by the name of Édouard-Wilfrid Buquet. He must have suspected that he’d created something special, as he patented parts of the lamp, especially the joints, just two years later. While we know that Édouard-Wilfrid Buquet developed many fine lamps, that’s sadly where our knowledge about him comes to an end. However, the shape of the EB 27 table lamp perfectly reflects his feel for aesthetics and functionality, which was closely related to the esprit of the Bauhaus movement. All components bear the 925 hallmark. Compared to the standard model, the base has been visually assimilated to the original design. The base also bears the following stamp: TECNOLUMEN, BWKS, crescent and crown, 925, handcrafted, and serial number. A brass weight is inserted in the 925 silver shell. Each lamp is numbered consecutively and bears the TECNOLUMEN signet. PLEASE NOTE: the stated price is a target price, since every lamp is hand made on request and prices are subject to material costs. Please contact us for the current price if you are interested.

Arne Jacobsen AJ Table Mini in Polished Stainless Steel for Louis Poulsen
By Arne Jacobsen
Located in Tilburg, NL
Arne Jacobsen AJ table mini in polished stainless steel for Louis Poulsen. Designed in 1957, re-introduced in 2020. New, current production. Arne Jacobsen designed the AJ Lamp for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen (Radisson Collection) in 1957. Today, the AJ family is regarded as the design that the Danish architect is best known for all over the world. At that time, the AJ family comprised a table and a floor lamp as well as a wall lamp, a small table lamp and a table lamp that was designed to attach to the table. The wall lamp could be found in beautiful rows in stainless steel in the lobby when the hotel was opened in 1960. In combination with the pendant AJ Royal, the AJ Lamp formed part of the overall design concept that Jacobsen created for the hotel. Arne Jacobsen did not just design the hotel down to the smallest detail for SAS (Scandinavian Airlines), he also designed almost all the hotel’s original furniture and utility items. The profile of the AJ Lamp with its straight lines and its combination of oblique and right angles is not only seen as a formal parallel to the profile of the Series 3300 seats, but also to the geometric profiles of his buildings. The AJ Lamp was used in several parts of the hotel, in copper and stainless steel. Furthermore, it was originally available in light grey, dark brown and black like the AJ Pendant...

Arne Jacobsen AJ Oxford Table Lamp with Metal Shade for Louis Poulsen
By Arne Jacobsen
Located in Tilburg, NL
Arne Jacobsen AJ Oxford table lamp 28mm 410mm in black and opaline for Louis Poulsen. Designed in 1963, current production. The AJ Oxford table lamp has a sleek graphic expression, which reflects the architecture of St Catherine's College, in Oxford, for which it was originally designed. St Catherine's College, inaugurated in 1963, was designed by Arne Jacobsen in a modernist architectural style, which stands in contrast with the surrounding classical architecture of Oxford University. The AJ Oxford Table Lamp was first designed as a table pin lamp for the impressive dining hall at the college, which housed long rows of oak tables, seating 350 people. The table lamps act as centrepieces on the tables, while natural light comes from clerestory windows and the wall-mounted AJ Eklipta provides diffused general lighting. The lamp is still found at St Catherine's College, which is still in use today, both for teaching and as a halls of residence for students. The AJ Oxford lamp...

Robert Dudley Bl 2 Table Lamp, Chrome
By Robert Dudley Best, Gubi
Located in Berkeley, CA
The classic Bestlite BL2 Table Lamp is designed in 1930 by Robert Dudley Best, a British designer highly influenced by the school of Bauhaus. With its clean lines and elegant expression, the Bestlite BL2 Table Lamp exudes a unique simplicity with strong references to this period. The table lamp is with its flexible arm and moveable shade, optimal for any home office, workspace, creative corner or even as the lighting at your bedside table or in the living room. The Bestlite lamp design was first adopted by garages and the Royal Air Force engineering departments due to its great functionality. A feature in Architects Journal lauding Bestlite with the title of the first evidence of Bauhaus in Britain brought the lamp to the attention of the design conscious. Public demand for the Bestlite lamps soon followed and, when Winston Churchill personally chose the Bestlite BL1...
